Coppell baffled by Lita troubles

Reading boss Steve Coppell insists that striker Leroy Lita is not a troublemaker.

Reading boss Steve Coppell insists that striker Leroy Lita is not a troublemaker.

The former Bristol City hit-man is looking to move on with his career after being arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following an incident in a Bristol nightclub recently.

The England Under-21 international was fined by The Royals as a result, but Coppell thinks Lita will give positive response in Monday's clash with Manchester City.

"If you have ever spoken to him, you would never believe how he gets into trouble," Coppell said.

"He is so softly spoken and quiet. He has learned a lesson and is looking forward from now on.

"He is just very, very quiet. If you asked me what I thought his personality was, I would say shy.

"He is not a great conversationalist by any means, but he is good company. It was a surprise to us all."

With Reading preparing to face City live on Sky Sports 1 on Monday evening, Coppell believes his side will relish the chance to play in front of a large viewing audience.

"It's what players play for," he added. "You don't want to be five pages in from the back of the newspapers, you want to be on the back making headlines in the top games.

"And top games means being on the TV, so we don't mind that."
