Dons complete double deal

MK Dons have signed Reading's Jonathan Hayes and Peterborough's Jude Stirling.

MK Dons have signed Reading midfielder Jonathan Hayes on loan whilst completing the permanent signing of Jude Stirling.

Martin Allen's promotion chasing side are working hard to reinforce their squad in January and have now added to the recent captures of Paul Butler and Lee Harper.

Allen has raided his former club to take 19-year-old winger Hayes on loan until the end of the season from The Madejski Stadium.

The Republic of Ireland youth international is now keen to make an impression in League Two after agreeing a move to the National Hockey Stadium.

"I'm looking forward to getting out and playing first team football," said Hayes.

"MK Dons have come in for me, they're flying, up near the top of League Two and it'll be nice to play, especially in a team doing well."

Allen has also tied up a permanent deal for Peterborough defender Stirling who joins on a nominal fee after signing an 18-month contract.

The former Luton man had joined on loan earlier in the week in order to make him available for the 2-2 draw against Lincoln.

The Dons have also seen players depart with Ben Chorley extending his loan deal with Gillingham until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, with Hayes leaving Reading, Steve Coppell welcomes Simon Cox back to his squad after the completion of a loan spell at Brentford.
