Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison insists he will fight for a regular place in the squad.
Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison has said he will stay with the club providing he can gain a more regular place in the squad.
The 26-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular place in boss Peter Taylor's squad, but insists he will fight to make the team rather than head for the exit.
Rumours have arisen linking Morrison with a move to Reading, but the striker is keen to remain at Selhurst Park, saying: "I'll stay if I play.
"I never said I wanted to leave the club - that's others putting words in my mouth.
"I can't stop people speculating about me leaving. There's going to be interest from other clubs if I'm not starting.
"They'll speak to the chairman or the manager, so it's in their hands.
"But unless they tell me otherwise, I'm still going to be at the club come the end of January.
"I'm happy to stay here, but I do want to play football. You're never happy if you don't play.
"At the moment I'm not happy, but it's down to me to prove I should be in the team."
Palace boss Peter Taylor insists Morrison still features strongly in his plans, saying: "I've got four strikers, so it's not going to be the same two all the time.
"I hope they all appreciate that now."
