George Burley is not keen on Sam Sodje and is not looking to sell Jhon Viafara.George Burley has played down any interest in Sam Sodje and is not looking to ship Jhon Viafara off to West Bromwich Albion.
Reports have claimed that Reading defender Sodje is wanted by Southampton after struggling to make an impact at The Madejski Stadium.
But Saints boss Burley, who is in the market for a defender, has cooled suggestions he wants to sign Sodje.
"We have been linked with Sam Sodje for several weeks now - probably because we did show some interest a year ago," Burley told the club's official website.
"But there is nothing happening there."
Burley is trying to bring in Gregory Vignal on loan from Lens after the full-back impressed during a recent trial with the club.
He added: "We are hoping to finalise a deal for Gregory Vignal, possibly in time for Saturday's home game against Lazio."
Meanwhile, one player linked with a move away from St Mary's is Viafara, with reports suggesting West Brom want the midfielder.
Burley insists Saints' Championship rivals have not enquired about the Colombian, who is now back at the club after his Copa America commitments.
"He has had just two weeks off, but is now back from the Copa America and training, and he will be involved on Saturday," continued Burley.
"We have not had any contact from West Brom about him."
