Reading manager Steve Coppell has questioned the logic in having and international break in the first weeks of the Premier League season.
The Madejski Stadium boss watched his side battle to a 1-0 win over Everton on Saturday, but Coppell admits his players are already in need of rest.
The Royals have played three games - Manchester United, Chelsea, Everton - in the space of six days since the start of the season.
Coppell, also watched on as Graeme Murty, Seol Ki-Hyeon and Stephen Hunt limped out of the meeting with Everton and he insists additional international fixtures are the last thing that his players need at this stage of the season.
Difficult game
"I'm all for international weeks," Coppell told
Sky Sports News.
"But, some of the internationals perhaps might be a little bit frivolous at this particular time when it's real competitive games.
"I've no problems with it whatsoever, but you look at some of the games and question how worthwhile they are.
"I look after my players and I want them to rest at this stage, but most of them will be at Heathrow on Sunday bombing off all over the place.
"We've got a really difficult game at Bolton next week and logistically we've got to get everyone together to get there.
"That creates problems, but, no big deal. I'm not moaning too much."
