Skipper looking to shake off calf strain

Reading are optimistic that captain Graeme Murty will be fit for the start of the season. Murty has missed the Royals' two games on their trip to Sweden so far and will also sit out Tuesday's fixture with Halmstads. The experienced full-back is carrying a calf strain, but Reading boss Steve Coppell expects his skipper to be ready for the big kick-off. "Murts won't play on this trip which is really disappointing," said Coppell. "We had a scan before we came out and it showed a grade one calf strain which should normally clear up quickly. "But we think he'll be alright for the start of the season. We want to 100% eradicate it and make sure he's not nursing it." Following relegation from the Premier League last season, Reading open their Championship campaign against Nottingham Forest on 10th August.
