Reading striker keen to break into international fold

Reading striker Noel Hunt has set his sights on securing his first senior international cap for Republic of Ireland. Hunt, who signed at the Madejski Stadium from Dundee United over the summer, has started the new campaign in impressive fashion, netting four goals in seven Royals appearances. The 25-year-old has played for Republic of Ireland B and also the Under 21 side, and is now keen to break into Giovanni Trapattoni's squad. He told the Evening Post: "Of course it's my dream to play for my country. I hope it comes this season, but he [Trappatoni] has a lot of quality players to pick from. "I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and hopefully I'll get a knock on the door. "I obviously wanted the chance to start for Reading. The gaffer [Steve Coppell] has been great with me and I was delighted to do well. "My scoring rate so far is not a bad ratio. I had a one in two last year so I wanted to keep that going. It will be a hard task and it's difficult in your first season, but the boys have been really good to me and made me feel at home."
