New Reading signing Marcus Williams has revealed how he rejected rival Championship interest.
Williams signed for Reading earlier this week on a three-year contract after leaving Scunthorpe.
He has now confirmed that one of those sides he shunned was Sheffield United.
"It was a big decision to make," Williams told the Reading Post.
"But you have to make them when a great opportunity like this comes along.
"There was interest from Sheffield United, which is of course closer to home for me, but the attacking style of football that Reading play will be much more suited to my game.
"We have a really good chance of getting in the Premier League next season.
"I didn't want to be coming towards the end of the summer without my future being sorted out. I'm just really looking forward to meeting the squad for pre-season now."
