Highly-rated Swindon Town defender Sean Morrison is set to leave the County Ground.
Robins boss Danny Wilson has confirmed the news, with Skysports.com having revealed earlier this week that Reading were lining up a move for the 20-year-old.
Wilson also confirmed the club have received one firm bid for striker Charlie Austin and he hopes to bolster his squad with new recruits during the window.
The Swindon boss told the club's official website: "We can't look back and cry over spilt milk (concerning Morrison).
"We managed to keep Sean at the club for another twelve months and the chairman did a great deal at that time.
"However once the vultures started to circle there wasn't a lot more we could do to keep him here."
Regarding potential new recruits, he said: "We will look after the weekend and see what is available.
"It is obvious that we need to strengthen the side and whilst we don't have money to throw around, there is a chance that we could pay a fee for one or two.
"We have seen what's happened here over previous years. After all the good work that has gone on we certainly won't be 'going for broke' and leave the club in jeopardy.
He added: "Progress has been made here and whilst we are very frustrated with the way things have gone of late, we have to stick together and move forward as a group and not individuals."
