Reading midfielder denies contract talks breakdown

Jem Karacan is insisting there is no truth in rumours that his contract talks with Reading have broken down. Reports have suggested that the midfielder is stalling over signing a new contract as he is unhappy at being offered lower wages than new signings Danny Guthrie and Pavel Pogrebnyak. It has also been suggested that he is now on the wanted lists of Aston Villa, Newcastle and West Ham but Karacan is describing the stories as 'nonsense'.

Rumours

He said: "There's nothing to believe in the rumours, I don't know where it's come from. "I've been here at Reading for eight seasons and looking to be here a long time further." The 23-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season but says he is hoping to resolve his future before the season kicks off. He added: "Hopefully it will be sorted in the next week. I want to be a Reading player for a long time yet."
