With new players bedding in at the City Ground, O'Driscoll says the club is moving in the right direction.
"It's all about principles for us at the moment. If we get them right, then results will follow," O'Driscoll said.
"We try and take the result out of the equation and concentrate on doing the right things because if you do that other things will follow.
"We have a collection of good individuals and we are trying to turn them into a team that can win matches in the Championship.
"We've introduced Henri Lansbury tonight, Billy Sharp has come back in and Jermaine Jenas has come off the bench but it's all about formulating a shape and what is best for us.
"You cannot govern results so it's pointless being disappointed by anything. We just move onto the next game and keep working with the players.
"The performance was a notch above Sunday's against Derby. We manipulated the ball better tonight and now we have to maintain that against Peterborough at the weekend."
