EFL League One 2017/18 Season Fixture Announcement

Blackburn are in the third tier of English football for the first time since the 1979/80 season and the League One favourites will start the 2017/18 campaign with a tricky trip to Southend on August 5.

Rovers were relegated from the Championship on the final day of last season and their first home game will be against promoted Doncaster the following weekend.

Doncaster will begin the season at home to Gillingham while Portsmouth, who snatched the League Two title on the last day of the campaign, begin life back in League One, and under new boss Kenny Jackett, with a visit from Rochdale.

Plymouth were also promoted from League Two and they start the season at Peterborough while League Two play-off winners Blackpool are away at League One play-off final losers Bradford on the opening day.

Relegated from the Championship along with Blackburn were Rotherham, who begin their season at Fleetwood, and Wigan, who are now managed by former Portsmouth boss Paul Cook, start their season at MK Dons on day one.

Oxford are viewed as possible promotion contenders by many and they start their season at Oldham, while Charlton are at home to Bristol Rovers on opening day.
