The former Arsenal starlet has done nothing but impress since arriving in Italy from Coventry City.
He hit vital goals in the InterToto Cup - which helped Perugia into the Uefa Cup - and he scored on his Serie A debut against Siena last month.
The 21-year-old's progress has now caught the attention of a number of English clubs, who have been impressed with the way the former Arsenal striker has adapted to top-flight football in Italy.
Aston Villa, Portsmouth and Middlesbrough are all reported to be keeping close tabs on the player, who could very well end up back in England sooner than expected.
Italian giants Parma and Lazio have also been impressed with Bothroyd's displays for his new club and they, too, are believed to be monitoring the situation.
Perugia will now be realising that they have picked up a real talent, who had failed to really grab the headlines back in his homeland with Arsenal and then Coventry.
If Bothroyd continues in his current vein, then Perugia's resolve could even be tested as early as January when the transfer window reopens.
