Southampton's new signing Nigel Quashie could be out for months with a knee injury.Southampton have been dealt a huge blow with the news that new signing Nigel Quashie could be ruled out for months with a knee injury.
The 26-year-old completed his move to St Mary's from bitter South Coast rivals Portsmouth last week in a £2.1 million deal.
The Scotland international was expected to make his debut in Saturday's game with Liverpool but has been sidelined by a training ground injury.
He has twisted his knee damaging ligaments, and boss Harry Redknapp is sweating over the severity of the problem, admitting he could be out of action for months.
"It's a devastating blow for the lad and the club," Redknapp stated.
"He's barely been with us three days and then this happens.
"I'm praying it's nothing serious and he'll be back in weeks not months."
Meanwhile, the Saints boss has confirmed he is looking to snare another of his former Pompey players - striker Riacrdo Fuller.
Redknapp took the Jamaican striker to Fratton Park from Preston, but is now hoping to persuade his former club to let Fuller join him on loan at Southampton for the rest of the season.
"There has been some contact with Portsmouth over Ricardo and we are hoping something can be sorted out this week."
