Rangers striker Tom Brighton and former Portsmouth defender Shaun Cooper have been handed a run-out by the ex-Hartlepool United boss.
Brighton comes to the Kent-based club after working his way through the youth ranks at Ibrox and having taken a loan spell with League One rivals Scunthorpe United last season.
Cooper (pictured) is looking for pastures new after being released by Pompey at the season's end, having spent time on loan at Leyton Orient and Kidderminster Harriers over the past two seasons.
The Gillingham boss admits he will look at more new faces this pre-season.
"I will be making a decision on Tom and Shaun in the next couple of days and hope to have a few more trialists in next week, so that we can have a look at them," Cooper told the club's official website.
