Portsmouth have baulked at Rennes' demands for Abdeslam Ouaddou.Portsmouth have baulked at Rennes' demands for former Fulham defender Abdeslam Ouaddou.
Pompey boss Alain Perrin had been considering a move for Ouaddou, having been a long-term fan of the Morocco international.
But Rennes quoted Perrin a figure of é¼5 million (£3.5 million) for the 26-year-old, who has just 12 months remaining on his contract.
Rennes are determined to receive as high a fee as possible for the centre half but their valuation has not been matched by Portsmouth.
Real Mallorca are also keen on Ouaddou, who spent two fitful seasons at Craven Cottage, but their offer of é¼2.5 million (£1.7 million) was also dismissed.
Belgian giants Anderlecht are the latest club to register an interest in the African but they have also been given short shrift by Rennes.
Anderlecht were willing to hand Ouaddou a substantial pay packet but their offer of a é¼2 million (£1.3 million) transfer was once more rebuffed by Rennes general manager Pierre Dreossi.
At the end of last season Tottenham Hotspur had been tracking Ouaddou but the defender cooled talk of a move to White Hart Lane by claiming he is happy to stay at Rennes.
