Portsmouth are 'very hopeful' a deal can be struck to sign Andres D'Alessandro.
Portsmouth are 'very hopeful' a deal can be struck with Wolfsburg to sign Andres D'Alessandro permanently.
The Argentinian playmaker spent the second half of last season on loan at Fratton Park and was a key figure in the club's Premiership survival.
Pompey boss Harry Redknapp is keen to bring D'Alessandro to the club on a long-term basis and talks are ongoing with Wolfsburg.
The sticking point is thought to be the £4 million fee that the Bundesliga side are demanding for a sale.
D'Alessandro has expressed a desire to return to Portsmouth and chief executive Peter Storrie is optimistic a deal can be reached.
"Andres is a fantastic player and we really hope we can bring him in," Storrie told The News.
"He's a serious option for us.
"We are in heavy discussions with Wolfsburg about the way forward.
"I'm very hopeful something can be concluded. But we will look at all our various options in that area of the pitch."
