Portsmouth are reported to have turned their attentions to PSV Eindhoven forward Jefferson Farfan, as Harry Redknapp continues his search for reinforcements.
Redknapp is eager to make full use of his sizeable transfer kitty and is scouring the world for fresh talent.
Farfan burst onto the scene in the 2004/05 season, having made the move from Allianz Lima, but he took his game to a new level the following campaign.
A return of 21 goals in 31 appearances prompted PSV to hand the Peruvian flyer a bumper new deal.
Farfan is now contracted to PSV until the summer of 2010, but this has not deterred interested parties - with Pompey reported to be among them.
PSV do not have a pressing need to sell the 21-year-old, but it is being claimed that Redknapp is ready to turn their heads with a bid in the region of £10 million.
Such a fee is within Redknapp's range and it would be a signal of intent that Pompey are planning to mount a challenge to the top teams in the coming season.
