Wigan have swooped to sign Portsmouth striker Svetoslav Todorov on loan.
Wigan Athletic have swooped to sign Portsmouth striker Svetoslav Todorov on a season-long loan.
Fresh from adding teenage hot shot David Cotterill to his ranks, Latics boss Paul Jewell has also struck a deal for Todorov.
The Bulgaria international has scored in two of Pompey's three games this season, but has been allowed to leave Fratton Park following the signing of Andy Cole.
Jewell was delighted to bring in Todorov, who turned 28 on Wednesday, and feels he will add quality to his Wigan attack.
"I have always liked him," Jewell told the club's official website.
"He's a pure striker, he lives to put the ball in the back of the net and will hopefully bring us that predatory instinct in front of goal which we have lacked at times in the past.
"Harry (Redknapp) speaks ever so highly about him as a player and a person and I am really excited about bringing a player of his nature into the club."
Todorov becomes Wigan's 11th signing of the summer and is relishing the chance to make an impact at The JJB Stadium.
"Everyone knows about Wigan now and how ambitious they are," said Todorov.
"All I want to do is play and the quality of the squad speaks for itself.
"Harry Redknapp said I will get on with Paul Jewell because he knows him well and I am looking forward to the challenge ahead."
