Rennes admit Kranjcar intent

Rennes coach Pierre Dreossi has confirmed he is trailing Portsmouth's Niko Kranjcar.

Rennes coach Pierre Dreossi has confirmed he is trailing Portsmouth midfielder Niko Kranjcar, as talk grows of a possible swap deal involving Arnold Mvuemba.

Croatia international Kranjcar has shown only sporadically his obvious talent since arriving at Fratton Park in the summer and it has been speculated that he could be on the move in January.

Reports in the French media have claimed Rennes midfielder Mvuemba is to go on trial at Portsmouth, with Kranjcar possibly heading in the opposite direction, if Harry Redknapp is impressed by the France Under 21 international.

"Kranjcar is a trail we have not just started," conceded Dreossi.

"He is someone we have always followed closely."

Meanwhile, it has been suggested Portsmouth are preparing a move for Younes Kaboul of Auxerre.

The promising starlet has been watched over the past six months and it is thought the 20-year-old defender could be the subject of a ‚é¼6 million offer in January.
