Abdeslam Ouaddou has revealed that he snubbed interest from Portsmouth as he considered his future options.The Morocco international is poised to sign a six-month deal with Ligue 1 side Valenciennes after leaving Olympiakos for personal reasons, but he was contacted by a number of clubs before he made his decision.
Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is currently searching for reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window, but any hopes of landing Ouaddou disappeared as the defender opted for a move to France.
Ouaddou explained: "I have had to face family problems, as one of my children and my wife weren't happy in Greece.
"Even if you have a good contract, if your kids are unhappy, money is nothing. If my family is not fine, I am not fine.
"So I met the officials and they agreed to cancel my contract.
"I have been in contact with Portsmouth, Nancy, Anderlecht, Real Sociedad, Betis and Al-Wahda.
"But talks have been great with Valenciennes, and I can't wait to come back to training."
A statement on Valenciennes' official website read: "Abdeslam Ouaddou is going to sign for six months with VAFC."
