Andreas Granqvist is hoping to make his debut for Wigan against Portsmouth in the FA Cup.
Andreas Granqvist cannot wait to get playing for Wigan and is hoping to make his debut in Saturday's FA Cup match against Portsmouth.
The young Swedish ace was reportedly watched by a host of big clubs, including Liverpool and Bayern Munich, but it was Wigan who eventually snapped up the player.
Granqvist, the former captain of Swedish side Helsingborgs, is still waiting on international clearance before he can make his Wigan debut, but insists he is ready for the physical demands of the Premiership.
He told Wigan's official website: "Now I just can't wait to get playing and fighting for my place.
"Hopefully, I can feature at Portsmouth in the FA Cup this weekend if the international clearance is sorted but that is not my decision. But I feel ready physically.
"Wigan are the club who have made the commitment and I am absolutely delighted to come and play here.
"This is an ambitious club and I know we have the squad to maintain our Premiership place and push on from there.
"I couldn't turn down the opportunity to play in England, and to try and test myself against some of the best players in the world and I hope I can repay the faith Wigan have shown in me by performing well for the club."
