Pompey plan to keep Mvuemba

Harry Redknapp admits he is planning to keep Arnold Mvuemba at Portsmouth.

Harry Redknapp admits he is planning to keep Arnold Mvuemba at Portsmouth next season.

The young midfielder joined Pompey on loan from Rennes in January and has impressed Redknapp with his ability.

He made his first start for the club in last weekend's 0-0 draw at Reading and has been challenged to prove he merits a permanent deal at Fratton Park.

Redknapp praised Mvuemba's qualities and acknowledged he is optimistic of arranging a deal in the summer.

"I like Arnold and hopefully I will keep him next season," Redknapp told the Daily Mirror.

"We have got another eight games to look at him and let's hope he keeps progressing.

"He has got lots of ability. He's got pace through the middle and holds onto the ball well."
