Harry Redknapp has admitted he would love to sign Jermain Defoe or Fredi Kanoute.
Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has admitted he would love to sign Jermain Defoe or Fredi Kanoute.
Following the arrival of Darren Bent at Tottenham, there has been speculation that Defoe could be forced to leave White Hart Lane to get first-team football.
And, while the player has told skysports.com he is happy at Spurs, Redknapp has told Sky Sports News that he would love to take him to Fratton Park.
Redknapp - who says he is currently trying to negotiate a deal for Preston striker David Nugent - also admitted that Sevilla striker Fredi Kanoute is on his wish-list.
"I'd love Defoe or Kanoute," he said. "Defoe is a fantastic player in my opinion.
"He needs to play. Spurs are so strong up front. Robbie Keane is a magnificent player, there is Berbatov and they took Bent.
"I gave Jermain his debut at West Ham and I know the kid - he loves playing football and loves scoring goals.
"He needs to play somewhere."
