Stoke hope for Griffin return

Tony Pulis is still hoping he can persuade Andy Griffin to return to Stoke City.

Tony Pulis is still hoping he can persuade Portsmouth defender Andy Griffin to return to Stoke City.

Griffin made 34 appearances on loan with The Potters last season and is likely to be allowed to leave Pompey on a permanent basis.

Stoke are keen to arrange a deal for the full-back, but Premier League newcomers Derby County have also shown an interest.

Pulis is aware other clubs are in the hunt for the 28-year-old, but is staying upbeat about his chances of re-signing Griffin.

"We always knew there could be competition for Griff, because good players attract interest from other clubs," Pulis told the Sentinel.

"Griff knows what we can offer and now the decision is his.

"I'm sure I speak for every Stoke fan when I say we all hope he comes back to us."
