Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is keen to bring in Jerome Thomas on loan.
Redknapp would prefer a loan deal for the winger but believes that his current club Charlton would rather sell him, leaving the Pompey boss doubtful that a move will happen.
He would also like to boost his options upfront with the Blues short on strike power following David Nugent's injury, while Sean Davis and Lauren are two players who have been rumoured to be on their way out of Fratton Park.
Real Mallorca are reportedly interested in Lauren whilst Everton and Middlesbrough are said to be targeting Davis but Redknapp is not prepared to sell any of his players unless he can bring others in.
"There is not a lot of time left," Redknapp told The News.
"I doubt if any will go out unless we can get a couple in. I won't let anyone go unless that happens.
"I have tried to loan Jerome Thomas. He's a young player with talent. I don't know if that will happen, I think they would sell rather than loan him.
"We have two forward players at the moment, there is no-one to come off the bench. That is a problem for us."
