Harry Redknapp has admitted that he will not stand in David Nugent's way if the striker wants to join Ipswich.
Nugent joined Pompey from Preston last summer but has struggled to establish himself in Redknapp's side, making just four starts in the Premier League.
Ipswich have made an offer to take Nugent to Portman Road on loan, and Redknapp accepts it could be beneficial for him to go out and play more regularly.
Milan Baros and Jermain Defoe have arrived at Fratton Park in recent weeks to boost Portsmouth's attacking options, but Redknapp will leave the decision up to Nugent.
He told
Sky Sports News: "Ipswich are interested in David. They want to take him on loan and it's a decent deal.
Possibility
"It would do him good and if that's what he wants I won't stop him.
"David wants to play and if he goes to Ipswich, gets some goals and helps them get promoted it won't do him many harm.
"It's certainly a possibility but at the end of the day it's David's decision. No one is pushing him out."
There has been some speculation that the move could be held up by an injury to Nugent, but Redknapp expects the 22-year-old to be back in action soon.
Redknapp explained: "He's had a hernia operation three weeks ago and he's not far away. Maybe on Monday or Tuesday he'll be back training."
