Pompey agree fee with Bari for Norwegian international

Portsmouth have agreed a deal with Bari to bring Norway international striker Erik Huseklepp to Fratton Park. The 26-year-old is set to undergo a medical at the Championship outfit after the clubs are reported to have agreed a fee of approximately €1.7million (£1.5m). It is believed Huseklepp, who can play as a striker or winger, is likely to land a three-and-a-half year deal. Huseklepp told Bergens Tidende: "All is not yet set but the clubs have agreed (a transfer) and I will make it over to England for a medical test within a short while." But the forward does not think that he will be ready for Pompey's game against Bristol City on Saturday. "That is not confirmed yet," he said.

Looking forward

Huseklepp added he has enjoyed his time at Bari and is now looking forward to new challenges in England. "I have had a great time at Bari. I got to play many games in Serie A and believe that I have evolved as a footballer. The club has treated me really good," he said. Regarding Portsmouth, he added: "The club is in a rebuilding phase and that is something I want to be part of. In the long run the club wants to get back to the Premier League and that is of course exciting. "It's a physical league but I've grown stronger with the years, stronger than people might think. I think it's going to be great. "Regardless of that (the physical side) I have other qualities to compensate."
