Davis: Dugdale lost his head

Crewe boss Steve Davis heavily criticised Adam Dugdale for lacking discipline after his red card in the club's 2-1 defeat at Barnet.

The Alex had already seen David Artell dismissed when fellow defender Dugdale was sent off just before half-time for a late lunge on Ricky Holmes. "It was a very, very frustrating afternoon for us," Davis said. "We totally dominated the game for the first half an hour. "We had no complaints about the first decision but I still felt we were the better side even with 10 men. And then Dugy (Dugdale) goes and does something ridiculous. "He loses his head, we've seen that red mist come down before in training. It was a rash challenge, I'm not sure it was a sending off but he definitely caught the lad. "You can't go lunging in like that on your backside and show your studs because you then give the referee the choice to book you or send you off. Those two cards have effectively cost us the game. They know they shouldn't do it and I know they are sorry but it's that discipline, you've got to keep yourself out on that pitch."
