Stopper insists he is going nowhere

Defender Johannes Ertl insists he wants to stay at Sheffield United and help them to promotion this season, despite attracting reported interest in last month's transfer window. The 29-year-old centre-half, whose current deal at Bramall Lane expires in the summer, has struggled to reclaim a spot in Danny Wilson's first team since returning from a long-term injury in December. German outfit 1860 Munich were thought to be chasing his signature last month but no move materialised. Ertl says he is keen to stay at the South Yorkshire club until the end of the season as they bid for promotion to the Championship. "It was quite quiet during the window to be honest, which suits me because all I am focused on is doing my best for Sheffield United and trying to break back into the side," he told Sky Sports. "I'm not really interested in going anywhere else in the next few months and there was a bit of interest, but I want to stay here and help this club achieve promotion like everybody else here."

Home form

The Blades currently sit second in League One and six points behind leaders Charlton after beating Preston at home on Saturday. Wilson's men have won their last seven league games at Bramall Lane and Ertl insists it is important they maintain their strong home form. He said: "The most important thing for us is to maintain our home form because our form at Bramall Lane has been great recently and we need to keep that going until the end of the season if possible. "Bramall Lane is a fantastic place to come to as an away team and play football because a lot of people come every week and they are a great crowd, so we need to make sure that we give them something to watch instead of the away side."
