Erik Huseklepp admits he left Portsmouth with a 'heavy heart' after joining Birmingham City on a three-month loan deal.
The Norway international has moved to St Andrew's with a view to a permanent deal to help ease Pompey's financial problems following the club's slide into administration.
Huseklepp understands why Pompey wanted to take his wages off the books and will now focus on helping Birmingham push for promotion to the Premier League.
"It was all very quick," Huseklepp told Birmingham's
official website. "I heard about it on Wednesday and then everything went very fast.

"It was with a heavy heart that I left Portsmouth because they treated me fantastically and the fans were great with me.
"But the club came to me with this and said that they needed me to leave because of the financial difficulties they are in.
"Birmingham is a good opportunity for me too and I am excited to be here and I want to start playing. They are chasing the top two of course and it's a good challenge, so I'm looking forward to it.
"When you are third, promotion is probably realistic, but the most important thing is to take one game at a time and try to win every one.
"I've come here to do my best and to do things I know I'm good at and hopefully it will help the team."
