Tottenham will assess forward Heung-Min Son's foot injury on Friday in the hope he can return to training and feature against Liverpool next week, according to Sky sources.
The South Korean, who has scored three goals since signing from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, injured a muscle in his foot against Manchester City on September 26 and has not featured in Spurs' last two games.
Son has not trained this week and has been resting while the majority of the squad are on international duty, having not travelled to be part of South Korea's game against Kuwait on Thursday evening.
Head coach Mauricio Pochettino told Sky Sports News HQ last week that he would would need to be assessed "day-by-day".
"We hope it's not a big issue but he has a problem in his foot and we need to assess it day-by-day, but maybe he will be out for a few weeks," he said.
Son has made a big impact at Tottenham, impressing in his five appearances for the club so far.
Sky sources understand the player has settled in well off the pitch too, enjoying life in England and at the club, and being highly impressed with head coach Mauricio Pochettino and his staff.
Tottenham are also hopeful Ryan Mason will return from a knee problem ahead of next Saturday's game at White Hart Lane, which is set to be Jurgen Klopp's first game in charge of Liverpool.
Nabil Bentaleb and Alex Pritchard have also been struggling with injuries and will continue to be assessed.
