The match officials for the Spurs v Stoke game jokingly tried to stop Harry Kane from collecting the match ball!

The match officials at White Hart Lane jokingly tried to stop Harry Kane from collecting the match ball after his hat-trick against Stoke, saying that his deflected third goal needed to go to the dubious goals panel.

Kane completed his treble after his free-kick took a heavy deflection off Peter Crouch, and as he went to grab the ball after the 4-0 win, referee Jon Moss hid it away from him as the official to his left said: "dubious goals panel!"

It was a second hat-trick in a week for Kane, who also struck all three goals in their FA Cup fifth-round win over Fulham at Craven Cottage last Sunday.

The England striker also set up Dele Alli for Tottenham's fourth against Stoke, as Spurs climbed back up to second in the Premier League table, 10 points behind runaway leaders Chelsea.

Kane might have been ribbed by the officials but his manager was delighted by his display.

"[Kane scored] a fantastic hat-trick and it was a fantastic performance," boss Mauricio Pochettino said. "He's one of the best strikers in Europe and I'm very pleased for him."
