Paul Merson believes Alexis Sanchez is the only Arsenal player on current form who would get into the Tottenham team.

The two sides clash in the north London derby on Super Sunday with the Gunners 14 points behind their local rivals.

Mauricio Pochettino's side are second in the Premier League table while Arsene Wenger's side lie sixth following the 1-0 win over Leicester City on Wednesday but with a game-in-hand.

And Merson cannot see his former side getting anything from the game at White Hart Lane and thinks Sanchez is the only player who would get into the Spurs starting line-up.

Speaking on the Premier League Daily, he said: "I'd be shocked if Tottenham didn't win this - and that's coming from me!

"I've been so impressed with Tottenham. I think they're a proper, proper team.

Ledley King and Thierry Henry debate how many Arsenal players would make a combined north London team. Even Thierry can't make a case for many...

"They've been outstanding and they grinded Palace down in midweek. I think they'll have too much for Arsenal.

"I look at the teams when I'm weighing it up. I'd have a case for getting Alexis Sanchez in the Tottenham team but I couldn't get anyone else in there and that tells you everything."

He added: "You can't say there's been a shift in power - one year doesn't swing it around but Tottenham are playing very well. Mauricio Pochettino has built a really good side and I think Arsenal would take a draw now."

Following the north London derby, Arsenal face United next Sunday at the Emirates and also face tough trips to Stoke City and Southampton.

Crystal Palace 0-1 Tottenham

And former Manchester United defender Danny Higginbotham believes Spurs and Arsene Wenger's side are going in the opposite directions regarding the quality of their squad.

"When you look at Tottenham they definitely are in the ascendancy. They have got a young squad, players improving all the time," he told Sky Sports News HQ.

"Arsenal are going backwards compared to Tottenham. They have been the standout team in north London for so long and Tottenham slowly have been creeping up in terms of what they are doing and the players they have got."

He added: "The only player on form to get into Tottenham team is Sanchez, I don't think there's very much argument against that.

"Tottenham's players are all playing at their maximum. Sanchez is the only one you may possibly look at but who do you leave out the front three of Tottenham?

"I find it very difficult to see Arsenal getting any points from that game."
