TOTTENHAM continue to monitor the form of several foreign centre halves, as it can be presumed that George Graham may reluctantly be beginning to prepare for life without Sol Campbell.
Spurs` England international defender is out of contract at the end of next season and, if he cannot agree a new deal in the summer, it is likely the club will be faced with little option other than to cash in on the player, whilst they can.
The latest target is a man with a famous name - Fernando Sanz. The 26-year-old is, in fact, the son of Real Madrid`s powerful chairman Lorenzo Sanz.
After leaving Real under something of a cloud, he was never a favourite of John Toshack`s, the defender has been rebuilding his confidence with Malaga in La Primera Liga.
He has played 17 times for Malaga this season, picking up three yellow cards, and he has the sort of rugged qualities that may be suited to The Premiership.
Spurs representatives have kept tabs on Sanz over the past few weeks, according to our Spanish sources, and he is believed to be one of many players that the Londoners are watching closely.
As well as picking up a Spanish League title in 1997, and the Uefa Cup and the Intercontinental Cup a year later, Sanz has a celebrity wife. He is married to TV presenter Ingrid Asensio.
Spurs have also been linked with defenders Teddy Bertin of Strasbourg, Verona`s Martin Laursen and Nijmegen ace Patrick Pothuizen in recent weeks and months.
