Spurs lead the summer spending spree of Premiership clubs following the £6.25 million capture of Helder Postiga from Porto and manager Glenn Hoddle revealed at the unveiling on Thursday that the club hope to recruit more players in a bid to build on their disappointing 10th place finish last term.
The Turkish international earned rave reviews for his manipulation of the ball in the heart of Rovers' midfield last term, that saw the club finish a more than respectable sixth, while West Ham's Freddie Kanoute remains another target.
The ex-Galatasaray ace's representatives, Galaxy Sports Management, claim they have had contact from someone claiming to be working for the White Hart Lane outfit but said they refused to discuss a deal.
Galaxy's Simon Munir said: "We were contacted by somebody who claimed to be working for Spurs who said they were interested in Tugay.
"We said that until a deal is agreed between the clubs, we couldn't talk as the player has one more year on his contract."
