The Portuguese star has been linked with moves back to Portugal and Spain after failing to establish himself with the North London outfit.
Postiga will get the chance to prove himself when he starts against Liverpool on Saturday in the absence of Fredi Kanoute and Pleat hopes that the former Porto star can take his chance in the first team.
"There was never any chance of Helder leaving," said Pleat. "Agents aren't silly, they see he has been out of the team and behind Kanoute and they try to manoeuvre a deal," said Pleat.
"We are aware there has been interest from Spain and Portugal over the last month but we are not loaning him to anyone.
"Helder will have a chance to show what he can do and he has to believe he can have an extended run. He is five months into his career here and hopefully he is five months wiser, and he has to try and hold his place.
"Players like that want to play first team football, but some of them want to run before they can walk.
"They come to England and it is very different from Portugal. The tempo is slower, there is a different defensive system and it is a warmer climate, so there are a variety of reasons."
