The Portuguese youngster is still tipped to have a bright future but Jermain Defoe's arrival has not aided his fight for a first team place with the former West Ham forward completing a formidable trio alongside Fredi Kanoute and Robbie Keane.
Atletico are hunting for a new striker to link up with the gifted Fernando Torres if they manage to secure a place in European competition next term.
Sports director Toni Munoz kept tabs on Postiga during Porto's successful Uefa Cup run last season, being particularly impressed with his display in the semi-finals against Lazio.
However, Spurs won the chase for the 21-year-old, and have always insisted they want him to remain at White Hart Lane despite a difficult first period in England.
The tricky introduction to Premiership football has not dissuaded a number of continental clubs from maintaining an interest in securing the services of the promsing talent.
Spanish sources claim Celta Vigo and Milan both made enquiries for Postiga during the transfer window, only for David Pleat to knock back the approaches because Kanoute was away on African Cup of Nations duty with Mali.
Indeed, Celta were rumoured to be very close to snapping the player up on a loan basis in January, only for Spurs to shut the door on any exit.
Postiga is likely to reassess his situation in the summer but, as he signed a five-year contract in North London, Tottenham hold all the Aces regarding his future.
