The North London club are keen on Thomert and they made a bid for him only for Lens to reject it.
New Spurs boss Jacques Santini is keen to bolster his attacking options and has made a new striker one of his main priorities.
Santini needs a replacement for Helder Postiga and his need for reinforcements has been heightened after an injury to Robbie Keane.
The former France boss has now invited Ivory Coast hit-man Bakari for a trial at White Hart Lane.
The 29-year-old is expected to spend eight days at the club in the hope of winning a move to England.
Bakari has long been tipped for a move away from Lens, with Wolves strongly linked with his services last season.
The powerful striker seemed set to join Strasbourg or Spanish side Real Valladolid last month, but the moves failed to materialise.
Bakari has now been offered the chance to secure a move to Spurs if he impresses Santini.
