Tottenham boss Martin Jol was full of praise for youngster Dean Marney after his excellent display in the 5-2 defeat of Everton.
The Dutchman opted to call up the midfielder - who was on loan at Gillingham earlier this season - due to an injury to Michael Brown.
Marney repaid his manager's faith with a fine individual performance that saw him score twice and set up another in his first home game for the club.
Jol was particularly pleased with how he took both his goals as Spurs inflicted a second straight defeat on the high-flying Toffees.
"It's his first home game for the club and scoring two goals and make another one is amazing," stated Jol. "It's a real achievement for a young boy.
"The first goal was decisive, he knew exactly what he was doing. The second goal, he looked up and banged it in the corner. I'm pleased with him."
The handsome home win was the second time this season that Spurs have scored five at White Hart Lane after also dismantling struggling Southampton back in December.
Jol believes his team are now playing some fantastic football on their own patch, and that the victory over the Toffees was their finest performance of the season so far.
"You have to put everything in perspective, Southampton was terrific for us because we had not scored five goals at home before," he said.
"This is the second one and overall, after 90 minutes, we played our best football."
