Messina star Carmine Coppola has rejected any notion of heading to Tottenham this summer.
The Italian is desperate to break into Marcello Lippi's World Cup party and is reluctant to ponder a move away from Serie A.
Spurs have been alerted to the midfielder's abilities and Roma, Udinese and Fiorentina are also admirers of the 26-year-old.
"Many requests [for me]," he commented. "Big honours.
"But, at this point probably I have more of a reason to stay at Messina.
"Or better, I would exclude going to England.
"All the rest must be evaluated but I'd prefer to stay with my team.
"In the USA, I received compliments from the Italian national team coach. Mr Lippi congratulated us, said we are all under observation and next year there is the World Cup.
"To have a chance to play in it, firstly I must be a regular and be in the condition to express myself best.
"And so Messina becomes the ideal place again, in that I consider it my second city.
"With officials who love me and a coach who knows me, it would make everything easier."
