Tottenham's Paul Robinson is confident of being fit for the start of the new season.Paul Robinson has given Tottenham a huge boost ahead of the new campaign by insisting he should be fit for the season-opener against Portsmouth.
The England international has been sidelined since May after damaging knee ligaments in a challenge with Darius Vassell.
It was thought he would miss the opening games of the new Premiership season, but the former Leeds star believes he should be fit for the opening day clash with Pompey on August 13.
"I heard there was talk that I might miss the first few games of the season but realistically, personally, I hope to be back by then," he told the club's official website.
"I've started training again and I'm building up slowly. I'm being careful at the moment and cautious not to take things too quickly, gradually easing my way back into it.
"There's nothing I can't do at the moment and in the next couple of weeks I'll be building up to full pace. Touch wood, it's been going well.
"It's been a learning process for me and the club have had to keep the reins on me a little to stop me doing too much too soon.
"It's looking good now. I'm in full training again and it's all going in the right direction. I'm just pleased to be training again and I now want to get myself playing again."
