Spurs seal Davids deal

Tottenham have completed the capture of Edgar Davids on a free transfer.

Tottenham have completed the capture of Dutch ace Edgar Davids on a free transfer from Internazionale.

The 32-year-old has finalised personal terms and passed a medical at White Hart Lane and is set to don the famous Spurs shirt for the first time in Saturday's friendly against former European champions Porto.

Manager Martin Jol has revealed Davids is the jewel in the crown and believes the former Juventus, Barcelona and Ajax man will help the side reach a new level.

"I know everybody is very excited, he is a big player and the one we wanted," explained Jol to the club's official website.

"Edgar Davids is probably one of the most successful players of the last decade, he has played for five of the biggest clubs in Europe and he wants to play for Spurs.

"All of our players are ambitious and know why we have brought Edgar in - because both mentally and physically we need to go up a step or two."

Davids, who has 73 caps for Holland, is Spurs' sixth signing following the arrivals of Tom Huddlestone, Aaron Lennon, Wayne Routledge, Paul Stalteri and Teemu Tainio.
