Fredi Kanoute claims Tottenham Hotspur are trying to sell him.Fredi Kanoute claims Tottenham Hotspur are trying to sell him before the close of the transfer window.
The Mali international has been linked with a string of clubs in recent weeks and is aware that he could be shipped out of White Hart Lane.
Former club West Ham United enquired about his situation before cooling on their interest due to concerns from the supporters.
West Brom, Manchester City and Sevilla have also been mooted as admirers of Kanoute, who would be happy to stay in North London.
If Kanoute is forced out of Spurs, it is believed Newcastle United would be his preferred destination, with The Magpies desperate to bring in a new striker.
Tottenham boss Martin Jol wants Kanoute to fight for his place in the team and would be happy for the pacey front man to stay.
But Kanoute has revealed that Spurs are trying to engineer his sale, although he has warned he will not be forced into leaving the club.
"The truth is Tottenham are definitely willing to sell me," said Kanoute.
"It's clear they are prepared to let me go if they receive a good price.
"I won't be rushed into making a move, though. I don't want to leave in a hurry and end up having regrets so I have a lot to think about.
"I will only choose to do something I want to do and that means taking up a challenge that I will like."
Kanoute has been trying to ignore the rumours concerning his future but concedes it has proved difficult to do.
He added: "Ever since I came back from holiday my name has constantly been linked with other clubs and, no matter how hard I try not to let it affect me, I can't ignore all of the rumours and reports.
"My attitude is clear. If I go, I go. If not, I'm more than happy to stay."
