Jermaine Jenas says helping Tottenham finish fourth is all he is thinking about.
Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas has insisted he is not looking any further than the final six games of Spurs' season.
Many believe Jenas will travel to Germany with the England squad for this summer's World Cup but the former Newcastle man says he is trying to ignore all the speculation and just do his best for his club.
"I'd be lying if I said it's not in a lot of people's minds," Jenas told Sky Sports News.
"Spurs are the reason I'm playing for England in the first place so I want to achieve what I can for them first and come the end of the season, if I'm in the squad, then I'll be delighted."
Jenas has admitted his disappointment at being unable to finish a simple chance in the match against his former club at the weekend.
After sprinting the length of St James' Park to add numbers to a Spurs counter attack, Jenas was left with an open net, but with the goal at his mercy, he sent the shot into the side netting.
"It's disappointing for me because I did so well to even get there in the first place," added Jenas.
"I did all the hard work but took my mind off the important bit at the end.
"It's just one of those things, maybe at the end of my career I can laugh at it but it hurt very much at the time."
Tottenham are still in pole position to claim the fourth UEFA Champions League spot ahead of North London rivals Arsenal and Jenas believes home form is vital if a team is to mount a European challenge.
Spurs have lost just once all season at White Hart Lane and that, coupled with an excellent crop of youth talent under manager Martin Jol, has helped guide the club into fourth spot in The Premiership.
"It's been tough but it was always going to be tough with the teams up there.
"Our home form has really helped throughout so it's been good.
"We've worked really hard and got a good set of players with lots of ability.
"I can't predict the future but I'm confident in my team's ability and we know we're capable of achieving it."
