Ajax are hoping that Edgar Davids will soon decide about his future.
Ajax are hoping that Edgar Davids will soon make a decision about his future.
The 33-year-old former Holland international looks set to leave current club Tottenham Hotspur after revealing that he wanted to finish his career in The Netherlands.
Davids made 31 appearances for Spurs this season, but it was not always able to adapt to the speed of The Premiership.
Nicknamed 'The Pitbull' for his no-nonsense, hard tackling and aggressive attitude in the centre of midfield, he quickly gained iconic status at White Hart Lane.
Should Davids leave North London, he will be greatly missed. On his debut in a pre-season friendly, a sold-out stadium of fans donned goggles and dreadlock wigs to welcome him.
A return to Ajax looks likely given that Davids was part of the famed youth system, where he won three successive league titles and a Champions League before he moved to Serie A with Milan.
New coach Henk ten Cate is looking for reinforcement in the centre of the park and sees tough-tackling Davids as the perfect addition to his squad.
However, an Ajax source has told Voetbal International that "the waiting must end some time [soon]."
