Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids' cousin Lorenzo is beginning to make waves in Holland.
Fiery Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids' cousin Lorenzo is making waves in Holland and is set to make his league debut for Feyenoord this season.
The 19-year-old has watched his superstar relative command respect across Europe for Juventus, Barcelona, Ajax, Milan and Internazionale.
While the elder Davids is now in the latter stages of his career at Tottenham Hotspur, Davids the younger is just about to breakthrough into De Eredivisie.
The 1995 UEFA Champions League winner has been offering Lorenzo advice to help him develop in his career.
"I am very proud of Edgar. I have been a huge fan of his for years and I really look up to him," Lorenzo told Dutch paper Algemeen Dagblad.
"Now we have regular contact with each other.
"I play in the same position as him. Edgar tells me what I do wrong and explains to me how to do better.
"His best advice? He told me to listen to the older players and keep doing my own thing."
But the Feyenoord youngster has also warned the public not to expect him to be the same sort of player as his kin, who earned the nickname 'The Pitbull' in his early days at Ajax.
"Edgar sometimes looks very hard, very different to when I talk to him. I think he has been made that way by others," Lorenzo added.
"If ever interviewed on TV, people ask me if I am also so hard. But mostly I have been told I am very different by the media and the people."
Feyenoord kick off their new campaign at FC Groningen and the Davidses will be hoping that it marks the start of a new chapter in their family's success.
