Paul Robinson feels Spurs will be the under-dogs against Besiktas.
Paul Robinson says that Tottenham are the underdogs ahead of their Uefa Cup clash with Turkish outfit Besiktas.
Spurs travel to Istanbul on Thursday to open up their Group B campaign with a tricky looking trip to Turkey.
"Besiktas are a very strong team. They have passionate support but are also a good side, very gifted technically. They also have a good manager in Jean Tigana," he said.
"When you come away from home the first thing you have to do in the first 20 minutes is keep a clean sheet.
"The longer the game goes on without conceding a goal the more chance we have of winning something. But no one has any false impressions of how tough this game will be.
"Besiktas have been one of the best teams in Turkey for many years. They've been in the Champions League and there's no doubt they'll go into the game as favourites.
"But hopefully we'll get a decent result here tonight."
Coach Martin Jol is also expecting a tough contest.
"Of course Besiktas is one of the better clubs in Turkey," he told Sky Sports News.
"The national team is getting better and better and you know they have fanatical crowds so that is not easy, but we look forward to it and hopefully we can get a good result."
