Coleman denies duo link

Chris Coleman has denied an interest in Danny Murphy and Per Nilsson.

Chris Coleman has denied an interest in Tottenham midfielder Danny Murphy and Swedish defender Per Nilsson.

Reports have claimed that Coleman is looking to bring Murphy and Nilsson to Fulham when the transfer window reopens.

But while Coleman has set up a deal for United States international Clint Dempsey, and holds an interest in Vincenzo Montella, he played down links with Murphy and Nilsson.

With regards to a potential bid for the Spurs midfielder, Coleman said: "I can kill that.

"We were looking at Danny when he left Liverpool to go to Charlton, but there's no truth in the Danny Murphy story."

Nilsson, who plays for Norwegian side Odd Grenland, recently revealed Fulham had been interested in the summer.

Coleman has watched the defender, but concedes he is not looking to bring the Swede to Craven Cottage.

He added: "I watched Per Nilsson when I watched someone who played in the same game against him, but Nilsson is not a target of ours.

"We're looking in many positions because we are quite short. We'll be looking at loan players and we also have a little bit of money to spend."
