Palop misses Spurs clash

Sevilla will have to overcome Tottenham on Thursday without keeper Andres Palop.

Sevilla will have to overcome Tottenham in the Uefa Cup on Thursday without influential keeper Andres Palop.

The 33-year-old picked up a calf complaint in the first leg, but was replaced by David Cobeno for Sunday's goalless draw with Racing Santander.

Sevilla coach Juande Ramos had hoped a period of rest would allow Palop to prove his fitness, but the problem has not responded to treatment and the club have opted to scratch him from their plans.

The holders are protecting a 2-1 lead from the first leg of their quarter-final, but they will be without Ernesto Chevanton for the trip to London.

Brazilian striker Luis Fabiano is available, though, having served a suspension in the first leg.
